WASHINGTON, D.C. – Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC (Advancing Justice – AAJC) and Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) today released a new report on anti-Asian hate and updated community resources using the FBI’s National Hate Crime Statistics for 2024.
In August 2025, the FBI released its annual Hate Crime Statistics (HCS) for the year 2024. These statistics offer a snapshot of reported hate crimes across the United States, but they often lack detailed analysis for specific types of bias categories and the context necessary to understand the full scope and impact of hate, particularly against Asian American communities.

Washington, DC – The FBI released its annual hate crime statistics today and the data indicate some troubling realities. The overall data show record-high numbers across several categories and ethnicities – the second largest total since the FBI began keeping the statistics.
While there has been a slight decrease in reported hate crimes, the situation for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders remains quite alarming.
