WASHINGTON, DC – Asian Americans Advancing Justice (Advancing Justice), an affiliation of five civil rights organizations, is challenging the Trump administration on its latest anticipated executive order to investigate the baseless claim of widespread voter fraud. The organizations believe the investigation is an attempt to move toward voter suppression tactics in future elections.

After Trump selected Sessions, Asian-American advocacy groups expressed alarm. Asian Americans Advancing Justice said in statement that Sessions has consistently expressed concern over U.S. immigration patterns after 1965, when non-Europeans were permitted to enter the U.S. in increasing numbers.

While many details are not yet clear, we do have a sense of the looming challenges on civil rights and social justice issues. We examine what lays ahead for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities on issues such as DACA, deportations, targeting of Muslims, hate attacks, the Affordable Care Act, voting rights, educational access, and the 2020 Census.
