Advancing Justice | AAJC Signs Coalition Letter in Support of Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act
The undersigned grassroots advocates, civil rights, consumer rights, and faith-based organizations write urging Congress to restore the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) authority to prevent incarcerated people and their families and loved ones from paying predatory prices to stay connected by rapidly passing H.R. 2489, the Martha Wright Prison Phone Justice Act, and S. 1541, the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act.
The undersigned 48 civil rights, privacy, and consumer organizations urge you to expeditiously move H.R. 8152, the American Data Privacy and Protection Act (ADPPA), to a vote by the full House of Representatives.
On behalf of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC; OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates; and the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), we write in response to the Request for Comment regarding the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) adopting a rulemaking to establish a new content vendor diversity report and endorse the comments submitted by the National Urban League.

Advancing Justice - AAJC Signs Coalition Statement for Subcommittee Hearing on Draft of "The American Data Privacy and Protection Act"
We are encouraged by the bipartisan discussion draft of privacy legislation, “The American Data Privacy and Protection Act,” which was released earlier this month. Last month, more than 70 civil rights and privacy organizations signed a letter calling on Congress to pass a strong law to protect all American’s privacy and civil rights. At that time, we stated that “privacy rights are civil rights.” We also noted the importance of enacting a strong law, recognizing that privacy legislation can empower communities of color and open doors for marginalized populations.
We are right here with you. That is the promise that Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC has kept with the Asian American community for over thirty years now. Three decades ago, we were founded on the need for our community to have a voice at the national level in all branches and offices of our federal government.
