Asian Americans Advancing Justice — AAJC (Advancing Justice — AAJC) submitted this testimony for the public hearing on SB 462 (“Expanded American History”) held on February 16, 2022 by the Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee of the Maryland Senate in Annapolis, MD. The testimony is in support of SB 462, which seeks to expand the history curriculum taught in schools across Maryland to include the histories of Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, Black Americans, Native Americans, Latinos, and women.

Washington, D.C—Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC and Hollaback! announce their first Bystander Intervention Training to Stop Anti-Asian/American and Xenophobic Harassment training in Chinese. The free 75-minute interactive training will be facilitated by two trainers and a team of interpreters in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin on September 24 at 3:00 PM EST.

Washington, D.C.—The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) announced that they will award one of its Daniel K. Inouye Trailblazer Awards to Advancing Justice | AAJC’s President and Executive Director John C. Yang. The award is given to those who have demonstrated vision, courage, and tenacity that have resulted in substantial and lasting contributions to the AAPI legal profession as well as the broader AAPI community.
Every generation has a moment of awakening. This year provided a few seminal moments that threatened to either rip the Nation apart or bring us together. The Asian American community became the target for those looking to blame COVID-19 on someone. Instantly, our community was dealing with the dual pandemic of the coronavirus and racism. Several politicians stoked those embers of hate with rhetoric that firmly put a bullseye on the back of every Asian American.
