Washington, D.C. — On May 6, 2024, the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA), the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), Housing Opportunities Project for Excellence, Inc., and the Fair Housing Center of the Greater Palm Beaches filed a fair housing discrimination suit in federal court in Miami challenging Florida’s SB 264, a state law that greatly restricts people from China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Syria from purchasing real property in the state.

Washington D.C. — Today the House of Representatives made the unsettling decision to pass the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), H.R. 7888, a bill that reauthorizes Title VII of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (also known as “Section 702”). This decision by the House not only maintains but significantly expands the scope of warrantless surveillance and is a direct threat to the privacy and civil liberties of Asian Americans and all Americans.

Washington, DC — On March 6, the House passed the House Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Act, 2024 after removing language to reinstate the controversial ‘China Initiative.’ The Asian American Scholar Forum (AASF), Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC (Advancing Justice – AAJC), Stop AAPI Hate/ CAA and nearly 50 coalition partners came together to oppose the original bill’s explanatory materials that contained language to revive the now-defunct program.
