WASHINGTON, D.C. – Asian American Advancing Justice | AAJC (Advancing Justice | AAJC) is pleased to announce Michelle Boykins, an experienced communications and grassroots media strategist, has been named director of strategic communications. Boykins will develop and implement the organization’s strategic communications vision, lead media relations and marketing efforts, and strengthen Advancing Justice | AAJC’s impact as a national leader on civil and human rights issues affecting Asian American and other minority communities.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Mark Takai passed away this Wednesday following a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a first-term Democratic congressman, representing the 1st district of Hawaii.
Mee Moua, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, issued the following statement:
A Community of Contrasts: Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the Northeast breaks the myth of AANHPI as "model minorities" by underlining the enormous growth and diversity within these communities, paired with heightened civic awareness.

A Community of Contrasts: Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders in the South is a much needed resource supporting growing Asian American and NHPI movements in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region with concrete and up-to-date data and policy recommendations.

4th Youth Ambassador Cohort
Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC is excited to host our 4th Youth Ambassador Cohort and launch the application for the Spring class. The 2026 Youth Ambassador Cohort will focus on immigration and examine how “Good” vs. “Bad Immigrant” narratives harm our communities and drive anti-immigrant policy.
