Washington, D.C. – The Trump administration’s eleventh-hour decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census violates the U.S. Constitution because it is racially discriminatory and could result in a severe undercount of minorities, according to a federal lawsuit filed today by nearly two dozen groups and individuals.

Washington, DC - Today, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Trump v. Hawaii, which is challenging the third version of the Trump Administration's executive order known as the Muslim Ban. When President Trump first proposed the Muslim Ban as a centerpiece of his administration, people from around the country came together to oppose the racist, Islamophobic executive order. Since that time, the Muslim Ban has faced a series of legal challenges. Ultimately the Muslim Ban was allowed to take full effect while the Supreme Court prepares to make its final ruling.

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – On the anniversary of the widely-condemned Korematsu Supreme Court decision that led to the internment of thousands of Japanese Americans during World War II, U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) intend to introduce the Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017 to prevent similar civil and human rights travesties from happening on U.S. soil ever again. Their legislation is named in honor of the late U.S. Congressman Mark Takai from Hawaii for his long-time leadership on this issue prior to his passing.

Washington, D.C. — Today, the United States Supreme Court issued an order allowing the Trump administration's Muslim Ban to take full effect as legal challenges move forward in lower courts. This ruling will greatly restrict travelers from six Muslim-majority countries – including Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, and Chad – from entering the United States.
