Anti-Asian Hate in 2024: Analysis and Recommendations for Change
November 20, 2025This report provides a deeper analysis of the data, highlights trends in anti-Asian hate, and offer recommendations for partners.
In August 2025, the FBI released its annual Hate Crime Statistics (HCS) for the year 2024. These statistics offer a snapshot of reported hate crimes across the United States, but they often lack detailed analysis for specific types of bias categories and the context necessary to understand the full scope and impact of hate, particularly against Asian American communities. Advancing Justice | AAJC has prepared this report to provide a deeper analysis of the data, highlight trends in anti-Asian hate, and offer recommendations for community partners and policymakers.
Our analysis draws from the FBI’s publicly available data, including both single-bias and multi-bias incidents involving anti-Asian victimizations. We examined national and regional trends, year-over-year changes, and patterns in offense types and locations. Where relevant, we supplemented federal data with insights from community-based platforms and external research to provide a fuller picture of anti-Asian hate. While this report focuses on anti-Asian hate crimes, we acknowledge that many other communities continue to face serious and escalating threats.
