Natalie Truong, Ph.D.
Natalie Truong, Ph.D., is the Assistant Director for Education Policy at Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC.
Natalie is an education policy advocate and researcher with more than a decade of experience advancing equity in K-12 and higher education. She recently served as a Senior Program Manager, K-12, at the Leadership Conference for Civil and Human Rights. Previously, Natalie held positions as the Associate Director for Education Policy at the Southeast Asia Resource Action Center, Policy Advisor at the Learning Policy Institute, and Policy Director at the Aurora Institute. Her work straddles policy, research, and coalition strategy focused on protecting and expanding educational opportunities for historically underserved communities.
She holds a Ph.D. In Education Policy and Research Methodology from George Mason University and specializes in mixed methods design, data disaggregation analyses, and the structural conditions shaping student opportunity. She also holds a Master of Science in Education Studies from Johns Hopkins University and bachelor's in political science and English from Grinnell College. She began her career as a teacher in Maryland and D.C.
Natalie is a native Midwesterner and has strong opinions about corn, casseroles, and sloppy joes as well as proper snow removal techniques employed in the D.C.-Virginia area.
