Advancing Justice — AAJC recognizes the importance of the "Discrimination and the Civil Rights of the Muslim Arab and South Asian American Communities" hearing as the first Congressional hearing to examine how post 9/11 national security policies impacted and criminalized Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities. We write to express our concerns of the racial profiling and discriminatory targeting of the AMEMSA and Asian American communities.

This amicus brief addresses the widespread prevalence of racial discrimination and profiling against Asian Americans and immigrants, particularly scientists and academics of Chinese descent in the last decade, when Professor Xi was subjected to racially motivated actions alleged in his Complaint. That context reveals racial bias against persons of Chinese descent which has permeated federal agencies and influenced FBI training, investigations, and prosecutions, traumatizing families and undermining the credibility of our institutions.

Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC (Advancing Justice | AAJC) submitted a comment in response to the request for input on the National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM-33) implementation guidance by Director Eric Lander on behalf of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). We provided implementation guidance recommendations and expressed our concerns about the mass profiling and discriminatory investigations and prosecutions of Asian American and Asian immigrant scientists, researchers, and scholars, particularly of Chinese descent.
