The Unity March was founded by several national organizations, including Asian Americans Advancing Justice - AAJC, the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance and Indian American Impact.

“We felt that it was time for us to do something big and visible in our community” said Tiffany Chang, director of community engagement at AAAJ-AAJC. “Because whenever we’ve let other folks tell our stories, it’s been one of either erasure or invisibility, or pernicious stereotypes.”

Approximately 15,000 people gathered June 25 at the National Mall here for the first-ever Unity March, organized to draw attention to the dramatic spike in hate crimes against the Asian American Pacific Islander Community.

More than 40 organizations, representing the full spectrum of AAPI sub-ethnicities, arranged the noon event, led by APIAVote and Asian Americans Advancing Justice-AAJC.

Biden signs law on creation of national AAPI museum

President Joe Biden Monday signed into law the establishment of a commission to study the creation of a National Museum of Asian Pacific American History and Culture.

The bill originally introduced by Rep Grace Meng (D-NY) in 2015 passed both houses of Congress earlier this year.
