At a 2013 Senate judiciary hearing, president of the Asian American Justice Center Mee Moua brought up anti-Asian immigration policies in the 1880s — like the Chinese Exclusion Acts. In response, Sessions defended the notion of splitting up immigrant families to protect the country's best interests.
"On many occasions, President Obama has said that when he's among the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, he was among family. To many AAPIs, he is family - he grew up in Hawaii where his Asian American sister and her husband still live and where his family visits often," said Mee Moua, president and executive director of the Asian Americans Advancing Justice.

New U.S. Attorney General’s troubling record is a blow to Immigration and Civil Rights progress
WASHINGTON, DC — Attorney general nominee, Jeff Sessions, was confirmed through a floor vote in the Senate this evening.
“Today, calls to the hotline (1-888-API-VOTE) paint a different picture for the Asian American electorate than in past years as the majority of calls were not about voter intimidation but rather about AAPIs exercising their democratic rights,” said Mee Moua, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC. “Our hotline was a beacon of information for the community – finding polling locations and providing in-language resources for AAPI voters.
Civil and human rights nonprofit Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAAJ) recently launched a website to keep tabs on Anti-Asian hate crimes, according to Huffington Post.
“We cannot stay silent when our communities become victims of hate speech or harassment.” AAAJ president and executive director Mee Moua said in a press statement.
