Advancing Justice - AAJC Joins 100+ Organizations Urging Biden Administration to Reaffirm and Implement End to Title 42
The right to seek asylum in the United States is in peril. In spite of conflicting court decisions, the White House and federal agencies maintain vast authority to uphold this fundamental right. We commend the April 2022 decision to lift the Title 42 order and the immediate action taken to appeal the May 20 ruling in Louisiana v. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But you must not stop with these actions alone.

Over 200 organizations expressed their concern regarding the amendments included in the Fiscal Year 2023 House spending bills for the Departments of Homeland Security and Health and Human Services that would legislatively codify and indefinitely prolong the use of the Title 42 policy, which has been used to block and expel asylum seekers and migrants seeking safe haven in the United States. The letter urges House leadership to ensure that these amendments are not included in any legislation that receives a vote on the House floor.

140 Organizations Send Letter Urging Congress to Reject Attempts to Pass Anti-Black, Anti-Immigrant Legislation
We the undersigned 140 organizations stand with Black communities, and all communities of color in America and at our borders, who have been relentlessly targeted in the media, in the halls of Congress, and tragically, by armed white supremacists. From El Paso to Pittsburgh, and across cities and towns in the U.S., the targeted murder of 10 people in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo is the latest in a series of tragedies directly inspired by white supremacist ideology.
