Washington, DC – Advertising used in the Republican primary race for Missouri Attorney General has deeply concerned and disappointed Asian Americans for its blatant racism and scare tactics. The anti-Asian advertising produced by Tea Party Patriots and the State Conservative Reform Action PAC is raising the ire of Asian Americans from Missouri to the nation’s capital.

Mee Moua, president and executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC, issued the following statement:

“Advancing Justice | AAJC is outraged by the blatant, racist political advertising running in Missouri. These most recent ads are yet another example in a long line of political advertising used to incite race-based fear of Asian Americans and other communities of color. Advertising such as this shows a continuing pattern of fear-mongering that we will not tolerate.

"For more than two decades, AAJC has fought against racism and xenophobia in political rhetoric and other public discourse. As the population of Asian Americans continues to grow and reach into states such as Missouri, we cannot allow hate and fear to divide communities. Advancing Justice | AAJC stands in support of thestatement made by the OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates. We support the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis, OCA Asian Pacific American Advocates – St. Louis, Missouri Asian American Bar Association, and Asian American Bar Association of Kansas City in their fight for the removal of these deplorable ads from all media outlets.”
