Associate Manager, Donor Engagement

This role is primarily responsible for assisting the implementation of proactive campaigns and activities to secure funds for the organization.

Title: Associate Manager of Donor Engagement 
Reports to: Vice President of Development 
Term:  Immediately  
Status: Full time, Exempt Employee, 40 hours/week.  
Salary: $50,000-$65,000 

Position Summary: The Associate Manager of Donor Engagement is primarily responsible for assisting the Vice President of Development with implementing proactive campaigns and activities to secure funds that allow the organization to fulfill its mission.  Specifically, the Associate Manager of Donor Engagement is responsible for working with the Vice President of Development on identification, cultivation, solicitation, and management of individual donors at all levels. This position will also take the lead on daily administrative tasks in tracking, ensuring accurate processing and recording, and acknowledging donor inquiries and contributions.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Organizational Leadership and Strategic Planning 

  • Act as thought partner to the Vice President of Development on issues related to fund development and activities, especially related to individual giving and donor engagement. 

  • Act as an active member of the Development Team in the strategic development and implementation of fundraising strategies. 

  • Support the management of donor relationships and the identification and pursuit of new funding opportunities to support program priorities. 

Individual Giving and Donor Engagement Responsibilities 

  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Development, assist in developing strategies for prospecting, solicitation and management of individual donor relations and donor involvement. 

  • In collaboration with Vice President of Development, develop materials to cultivate and manage donor relationships.  

  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Development, help establish new giving programs, targeted events and related activities that open the organization to new funding streams and create donor value. 

  • Create donor reports that will assist in strategy development and execution of individual donors 

  • Take the lead on engaging with general donor inquiries. 

General Development Activities 

  • Prepare donor acknowledgment letters and other development administrative communications. 

  • Coordinate productions and solicitation campaigns 

  • Work with the communications department to develop strategies for online fundraising campaigns 

  • Support development events and activities 

Other Duties  

  • Responsible for contributing to the leadership and success of the individual members of the development team 

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Participate in other activities, agency advocacy and serve on ad hoc committees as requested, as needed. 

  • Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends. 

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 

Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.  Graduate degree a plus. 

  • Two-three years of fundraising experience in a non-profit or corporate setting is highly desired.  

  • Experience in using and managing a fundraising database. Raiser’s Edge background preferred.  

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities 

  • Ability to operationalize vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, exercise good judgment and lead change.  

  • Fundraising experience including building and developing relationships. 

  • Excellent communicator and writer with experience as a spokesperson who can articulate messages to different audiences. 

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and balance competing assignments is necessary. 

  • Strong project and process management, including planning and coordinating skills.  

  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.  

Desired Qualification 

  • Experience and knowledge in Asian American, civil and human rights issues.
