Yuhuan Song is the Anti-Hate Communications Coordinator of Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC.
At Advancing Justice | AAJC, Yuhuan develops, implements, and supports the communications portions of the Anti-Hate Initiative. Her diverse experience in communications, racial justice, research, and the intersectional, integrated approach to address systemic oppressions, contributes to the Anti-Hate portfolio.
Prior to joining Advancing Justice | AAJC, she was employed at the DC Department of Health (DOH) working in the Office of Communication and Community Engagement in support of public health communication and community needs alongside the Director of DOH and the Director of Communication and Community Engagement. Yuhuan also worked on the Language Access Program at DOH to make sure that emergency public health messages reach individuals with limited English proficiency, which was especially essential during a global pandemic.
She also worked at LINK Strategic Partners (LINK) – a strategic communication and community engagement firm headquartered in DC. At LINK, Yuhuan gained valuable expertise in strategic communication, marketing, client management, social media, and media relations as she managed and honed her skills on accounts, including healthcare, community engagement, education, and racial equity.
Yuhuan works on multiple passion projects and holds volunteer positions with organizations that strive to make society better. She completed her master’s thesis by studying Chinese/American youth’s sexual health communication with their parents.
Yuhuan received her B.A. in Journalism from Shaanxi Normal University (陕西师范大学) School of Journalism and Communication (新闻与传播学院) in Xi’an, China and a M.A. in Communication Management from George Washington University.
